The Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences last week organized a symposium titled \’Infection Control in Hospitals\’. It was supervised by a number of faculty members to reinforce public health awareness in the city, and to raise awareness of the importance of infection control in health centers. Dr Rashad Shawgi presented \”The history and fundamentals of quality control in infection control\”. Dr Khadija Mansor, BMS faculty member talked about \”Methods of infection control in hospitals, clinics and laboratories\”. Dr Elham Omer discussed \”The importance of infection control in dental clinics\”. The seminar was concluded by Ms Asma Ghwel and her presentation \”Medical waste management and occupational health hazards for health care workers\”.
The faculty of Basic Medical Sciences introduced the audience to the research opportunities available in the Libyan International Medical Universities laboratories, as well as a visit to the Libyan International Medical University dental training centre, where dr Monem Eltarhouny spoke about infection control in the clinic which impressed the visitors.
